Hines Bros Heron Cross Orange Black & Gold Floral Large Cheese Dish Circa 1889
Scarce antique British earthenware large cheese dish and cover. Decorated in an Imari style brown transferware pattern with flowers and scrolls. The flowers have hand colored orange, black, and gold gilt highlights. The handle is also decorated in black with gold specks. Impressed RD 128494 on the bottom of the dish and on the inside of the cover. Registered on July 11 1889 by Hines Bros, Heron Cross Pottery, Fenton.
Has crazing typical of earthenware, some glaze wear along the edge, wear to the gilding, and a small crack on dish (see photos)
Measures approximately 9 1/2 inches long x 10 3/4 inches wide x 7 3/4 inches tall to the top of the handle.
